“Scientific knowledge changed as new evidence became available. Some discoveries significantly changed people’s understanding of the World”
The science of astronomy has come a long way, in fact, in 6th century BC people believed that the world was flat. Pretty laughable now, hey? Although the changes are huge, it's not like the whole world just woke up on day and BAM! Suddenly everyone knew about the rotations, tides, day and night and much more. It took many different astronomers to make up just a half of modern astronomy and it certainly wasn't easy. Things that stood in the way of making discoveries back then were things like Catholic Churches, as they didn't like any ideas that they weren't used to or hadn't been told. It wasn't only one person, obviously, but many, many astronomers working off of each others ideas, getting in trouble with the Catholic Church, changing the way people saw the world.
